The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Autonomous Police Team (단장 고창경) announced on June 14th that they had rescued a missing person (Mr. A) who had lost his way and was isolated alone. The search lasted 10 minutes with an Autel Robotics drone.

Mr. A, who lives in Ara-dong, Jeju-si, was collecting bracken near Darangshi Oreum in Gujwa-eup with his group, and when he realized that he was alone. He shouted and called the group, but there was no response, so he called 911 at 1:06 pm.

After receiving the disappearance report, the police arrived at the scene and successfully rescued him by guiding him to come out to a place where the sound of a whistle could be heard.

An official representative from the Eastern Happiness Center(동부행복센터) said, "Mr. A lost his way, and luckily there were no injuries other than psychological trauma."

He explained the situation at that time, "The open space near the Mountain where Mr. A got lost, an area of about 3 square kilometers, was difficult to search when he was missing due to overgrown weeds and bushes. But thanks to the drone, it was able to quickly find him."

He added, “It rained in the middle of the day, and the temperature was about 7 degrees lower than the previous day, so if the rescue was delayed, there was a risk of [Mr. A] being in a dangerous situation due to hypothermia.”

After that, the police conducted activities to bring Mr. A to safety through siren patrols and wire communication. They also use Autel drones aerial patrols (5 times) after 4 pm to guide him and prevent him getting lost again in the bracken.
